Carlos Alcaraz excited and nervous about meeting Real Madrid stars Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo

Carlos Alcaraz has expressed his happiness at having Real Madrid players Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior see him compete at the Madrid Open in 2023. On April 30, Alcaraz defeated Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets in the third round, building on his three-set victory over Emil Ruusuvuori. He advanced to the Round of 16 with a 6-2, 7-5 victory.

Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo, two prominent football players for Real Madrid, closely followed the Spaniard’s thrilling victory. Later on, the former world number one admitted that he had been anxious about having Brazilians see him compete.

“I still get nervous; I’m not going to lie. Seeing giants like them in the stands… I’m so happy that they would come to see my match,” said Carlitos.

Alcaraz is a well-known Real Madrid supporter who has publicly displayed his allegiance to the team on numerous occasions. He was present at the Stade de France last year to watch the La Liga winners overcome Liverpool 1-0 and win the UEFA Champions League during his Roland Garros campaign in Paris. In his post-game press conference, Alcaraz explained their conversation, saying they talked about both his performance and the soccer team’s most recent results. This included the matchup with Manchester City in the 2022–23 Champions League semifinals.

“We spoke about how well I played today, and their latest results. We discussed what is coming up for them against City. I wished them luck and they did likewise to me.”
