Ronaldo’s partner Georgina and sister slam Portugal manager Fernando Santos

Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t have the run he was hoping for at the current World Cup in Qatar. Portugal was defeated by Morocco in the quarterfinals and once again the soccer great was benched by manager Fernando Santos.

After Morocco eliminated Portugal from the World Cup on Saturday night, Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister Katia Aveiro paid tribute to the 37-year-old striker. In a social media post, Aveiro praised her brother and promised to tell her grandchildren how he “never gave up even after they had already buried him.”

Georgina Rodriguez, the partner of Cristiano Ronaldo, blasted Portugal manager Fernando Santos on Instagram for benching Cristiano during Saturday’s World Cup quarterfinal loss. She wrote on Instagram:

“Today your friend and coach made a bad decision. That friend for whom you have so many words of admiration and respect. The same as when you got into the game, he saw how everything changed, but it was too late. You cannot underestimate the best player in the world, his most powerful weapon. You can’t stand up for someone who doesn’t deserve it either.

Life gives us lessons. Today we have not lost, we have learned.”
