Tom Davies, a midfielder, has left Everton and been acquired by Sheffield United on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old’s contract at Goodison Park expired this summer, and he has now signed a three-year agreement with the newly promoted Blades.
The former England Under-21 international, who had been a member of Everton since he was 11 years old, declined a new contract.
It was finally time for me to leave Everton, and I’m extremely happy about it, stated Davies.
“I’m ready to start, and I’m created for this place. I think the project the team is working on is fantastic, and I can’t wait to get started.
After finishing second in the Championship last year, the Blades moved back up, but this summer they lost some of their most important players, including Iliman Ndiaye to Marseille and Sander Berge to Burnley.
Cardiff City, a current Championship team, had expressed interest in signing Davies but were unable to pay his salary.
“The Premier League is the best league in the world, so when Sheffield United came knocking, I thought this was the place to be, playing against the best teams and best players,” Davies continued.
