Manchester City are set to face court proceedings over 115 alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations, dating back to the period between 2009 and 2018. The club has been warned that a guilty verdict could result in relegation, though they have consistently asserted their innocence.

The trial is scheduled to commence in the autumn, with hopes, according to The Independent, that a verdict will be reached before the season’s end. Despite the gravity of the situation, Pep Guardiola has stated that the club will not contest the ruling, whatever it may be.

Guardiola expressed to the media: “I am happy that it starts soon and hopefully it will finish soon, for the benefit of all of us, especially the club but also other Premier League clubs and all the people who don’t wait for the sentence.”

“I wish, from the deep in my heart, go to the trial, the independent panel – and I say again, independent panel – and as soon as possible, release what happened and we will accept like always we have done.”

On the field, Manchester City’s next match is this weekend against Ipswich Town, following their 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to kick off their title defense.
