Preston North End are urgently seeking their third manager of the season after enduring a second managerial departure within a week. The Championship club began the campaign under Ryan Lowe, but following a 2-0 loss to Sheffield United on the opening day, he was dismissed.

Mike Marsh, along with Ched Evans and Peter Murphy, was appointed to manage the team on an interim basis, securing a Carabao Cup first-round victory against Sunderland. However, after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Swansea in the Championship, Marsh informed the club that he would not apply for the full-time managerial position and decided to step down. He did not attend post-match media duties and cited his intention to move on from the club.

Preston released a statement thanking Marsh for his contributions and announcing their focus on securing a new manager or head coach, hoping to make an appointment in the coming days. Former Manchester City coach Brian Barry-Murphy, who spent three years managing the club’s Elite Development Squad, has shown interest in taking the role.
