Former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is reportedly set to become a free agent just days before the Serie A season begins. Szczesny, who made his name in England with 132 Premier League appearances for Arsenal between 2009 and 2017, is set to leave Juventus after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract.

The Polish international moved to Juventus in 2017 for £10.4 million and initially served as backup to Gianluigi Buffon before becoming the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Szczesny and Juventus have finalized the contract termination, with all paperwork being prepared and an “important pay-out fee” expected.

As Juventus prepares to start their campaign against newly promoted Como, manager Thiago Motta will choose between Michele Di Gregorio and Mattia Perin as the new first-choice goalkeeper. Szczesny, who was once praised by former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri as one of the “best in the world,” is now searching for a new club.
