Although Napoli is close to finalizing the acquisition of David Neres from Benfica, Antonio Conte’s primary focus remains on signing former Inter and Roma striker Romelu Lukaku, who is currently sidelined at Stamford Bridge under Enzo Maresca.
Recent updates indicate that Napoli is exploring options to secure Lukaku, even if they cannot finalize the sale of their 2023-24 star, Victor Osimhen.
Napoli had hoped to achieve a significant transfer for the Nigerian forward this summer, whose release clause is set at €130 million following his recent contract renegotiation.
However, no official offers have been made for Osimhen despite earlier speculation linking him with Paris Saint-Germain. Interest from Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, has also waned, particularly with Chelsea nearing a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion.
As potential buyers for Osimhen appear to be dwindling, Gianluca Di Marzio suggests that Napoli may start the Serie A season with both Osimhen and Lukaku in their squad.
Napoli is firm on not paying more than €30 million for the 31-year-old Lukaku, while Chelsea continues to seek €43 million, reflecting their €115 million investment to bring him back from Inter in 2021.
