Ravel Morrison will feature in a pre-season friendly against Manchester United U21s this evening as part of an 18-man squad of free agents. The 31-year-old midfielder, who has been without a club since departing DC United last year, has spent recent months training with the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) to maintain his fitness.
Morrison, a former Manchester United academy prospect, is the most high-profile player in the PFA squad. He was once hailed by Sir Alex Ferguson as a more talented youngster than Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs. Despite this, Morrison made only three first-team appearances for United before moving to West Ham in 2012.
His career has since included stints at various clubs, including Lazio, Atlas, and Derby County. Scouts from various clubs will be observing the match, which also features ex-Chelsea star Todd Kane and former Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark, who played against Stratford Town on Tuesday.
