Juventus are facing backlash for announcing Federico Chiesa’s sale, which may force them to reduce their asking price. However, they cannot drop below €15 million without incurring a financial loss.

It was already established that Chiesa was not part of their plans for this season, but coach Thiago Motta confirmed after the 2-2 friendly draw with Brest that Chiesa would not be reintegrated into the team.

Chiesa has several potential destinations, including Napoli and Inter within Serie A, and his agent has reportedly been in touch with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Juventus has been criticized for making Chiesa’s availability so public, which has led to a perception of desperation. This transparency allows other clubs to potentially submit lower offers, given that Chiesa’s contract runs until June 2025.

Calciomercato.com analyzed the situation and found that Juventus would need to sell Chiesa for at least €14.9 million to avoid a net loss, considering the amortization and his €5 million annual salary. This is significantly lower than the €25-30 million they had initially hoped to secure at the beginning of the summer.
