According to The Daily Star, Barcelona has made an offer for Joao Cancelo that includes a £7 million ($9 million) loan fee and an £18 million ($23 million) purchase option, effective after the loan period. This deal structure is due to Barcelona’s ongoing financial limitations, restricting their spending this summer.

Manchester City prefers a permanent transfer for Cancelo rather than another loan. However, with no other offers on the table, Barcelona’s proposal may be the best option available. City aims to raise around £25 million ($32 million) from Cancelo’s transfer, and despite the delayed payment terms, they are nearing their target, prompting renewed negotiations.

Cancelo is willing to take a pay cut from his current £150,000-a-week salary to facilitate the move. Barcelona is prepared to cover his full salary, which appeals to City, especially given Cancelo’s reportedly strained relationship with head coach Pep Guardiola.

While Barcelona leads the race for Cancelo, other clubs, including Juventus and Inter Milan, are also interested. City still hopes for a sudden offer from the Saudi Pro League, where financial terms would not be an issue, allowing them to sell the player permanently this summer.
