Manchester United fans are hopeful for a Jarrad Branthwaite transfer following Everton’s latest signing, Jake O’Brien. The Republic of Ireland defender has joined the Toffees from Lyon for £17 million on a four-year deal.
Branthwaite, 22, remains a top target for Erik ten Hag, and United fans see O’Brien’s arrival as a signal for Everton to release Branthwaite. Everton previously valued Branthwaite at £70 million, but Manchester United supporters are pushing for a deal. Branthwaite currently earns £40,000 a week at Everton, far less than the £160,000 a week he could make at United. If he stays, he will team up with O’Brien in Sean Dyche’s defense next season.
O’Brien, a 6ft 6in center-back, had a successful stint at Lyon, helping them secure a sixth-place finish in Ligue 1. O’Brien expressed his excitement about joining Everton, describing it as a “dream move,” while Dyche praised his potential to become a top player in the Premier League.
We have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland centre-back Jake O’Brien from Olympique Lyonnais for an undisclosed fee.
Welcome to Everton, Jake! 💙
