Marseille are aiming to rebound after a disappointing Ligue 1 season that saw them finish in seventh place, missing out on European competition for the upcoming year. In the wake of Jean-Louis Gasset’s departure, the club appointed Roberto De Zerbi, who has already made notable signings, including Mason Greenwood, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Ismael Kone.

According to The Mirror, Marseille’s latest target is Liverpool’s Wataru Endo. Les Phoceens submitted a £12 million bid for the Japanese midfielder, but Liverpool promptly rejected the offer, as they are unwilling to let Endo leave Anfield this summer.

Liverpool acquired Endo from Stuttgart last year for a reported £16.2 million ($20.7 million) after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, both of whom chose lucrative moves to Chelsea instead.

Although Endo was not a regular starter under Jurgen Klopp last season, new Liverpool manager Arne Slot has indicated that he will make squad decisions after preseason, suggesting that Endo might play a significant role in the team moving forward.
