Gallagher’s future at Chelsea is in flux as he enters the final year of his contract, and he might be sold to address financial issues. Chelsea is exploring potential replacements and has reportedly prioritized Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira, according to Globo. The club is in discussions with Pereira’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, and is prepared to offer up to £35 million (€41m/$45m) for the midfielder, while aiming to sell Gallagher for around £50 million (€59m/$64m).
Pereira is expected to leave Fulham this season, having spent two years with the club after his transfer from Manchester United. He had struggled to secure a regular spot at Old Trafford and has since expressed feeling undervalued during his time there.
Interest in Gallagher includes Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, and Aston Villa, and there have been hints that Chelsea might reconsider and offer Gallagher a new contract.
Currently on a break following Euro 2024, Gallagher has declined to comment on his future but will be keen to learn about his role in Chelsea’s plans. Having been with the club since he was eight, Gallagher also served as captain frequently last season due to injuries to Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
