West Ham have reportedly agreed to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice after Manchester United were prohibited from pursuing the deal due to UEFA regulations. The Red Devils, looking to bolster their defense, faced a ban because of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos holding majority ownership in both clubs, raising concerns over multi-club rules as both qualified for the Europa League.

UEFA’s statement highlighted the need for clubs to maintain independence and barred player transfers between Manchester United and Nice until September 2025. This allowed West Ham to secure Todibo on a season-long loan with an option to buy for £27 million. However, Todibo has yet to agree to the Premier League switch, showing interest in Juventus instead.

United’s thwarted deal for Todibo contrasts with their successful £52 million acquisition of Lille’s Leny Yoro. Despite initial interest from Real Madrid, United convinced the 18-year-old to move to Old Trafford. The club has also signed Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and is targeting further reinforcements, including Manuel Ugarte and Matthijs de Ligt, but player sales are necessary before finalizing new additions.
