Former Manchester United star Patrice Evra, 43, has been given a suspended jail sentence after being found guilty of abandoning his family. Evra must pay his ex-wife €4,000 in moral damages and €2,000 in legal costs.

The sentence stems from Evra’s failure to pay nearly £1 million in alimony to his ex-wife, Sandra Evra, between May 2021 and September 2023. Despite Evra’s appeal against the verdict, he was ordered to pay a total of €969,000 in unpaid alimony.

Sandra Evra’s lawyer emphasized the importance of the decision, highlighting the couple’s long relationship and Evra’s financial obligations. Patrice Evra’s legal team disputes the claims, arguing he provided significant financial support to Sandra, including an apartment and a house.

The couple, who met at 15, married in 2007 but initiated divorce proceedings around 2020. Evra has since moved on, living in Dubai with Danish model Margaux Alexandra and their two children. Evra’s career includes 379 appearances for Manchester United and 81 caps for France.
