According to Nabil Djellit of France Football, Manchester United has made a significant move to acquire one of Europe’s top young talents by submitting a €50m (£42m/$53m) bid for defender Leny Yoro, which has been accepted by Lille. This bid is seen as “superior” to that of Real Madrid, who have been the favorites to sign the 18-year-old.
Although United’s bid has been accepted, Yoro’s future remains uncertain. The player still prefers to join Real Madrid, with whom he has reportedly agreed on personal terms.
Lille’s decision to sell Yoro this summer is influenced by his contract situation. As he enters the final year of his current deal, this transfer window is Lille’s last chance to secure a substantial fee for their star defender before potentially losing him for free next summer.
United will need to present a compelling sporting project to convince Yoro to move to Old Trafford, as his preferred destination remains Real Madrid. Reports indicate that Los Blancos are also negotiating with Lille over a final transfer fee. If an agreement is not reached, Yoro is prepared to stay at Lille for another year and join Real Madrid as a free agent once his contract expires.
