Leicester City plans to join the race for Celtic’s midfield star Matt O’Riley. Manager Steve Cooper sees O’Riley, 23, as a suitable replacement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who is set to join Chelsea. The Foxes believe O’Riley can fill the void left by Dewsbury-Hall’s goals and assists.

Celtic, however, have set a £50 million price tag for O’Riley, deterring Brighton and Hove Albion, who opted to sign Feyenoord’s Mats Wieffer for £30 million instead. Southampton, preparing for their Premier League return, have also shown interest in O’Riley.

O’Riley had an outstanding season, contributing 18 goals and 13 assists in 37 league appearances, helping Celtic win the SPL. Despite his success, he was not included in Denmark’s Euro 2024 squad by coach Kasper Hjulmand, although he has two national caps.

The midfielder, under contract with Celtic until 2027, recently returned to training after an extended break. Atletico Madrid also expressed interest in O’Riley, making an unsuccessful bid in the January transfer window.
