Inter midfielder and Turkish international Hakan Calhanoglu has assured Inter fans that he never entertained the idea of leaving the club.
Calhanoglu, 30, spoke to Sportitalia at the Olympiastadion in Berlin following Turkey’s 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands in the EURO 2024 quarter-final on Saturday night.
“I’ve never thought about leaving,” Calhanoglu told reporters.
He added, “I’m proud to be a part of the Inter family. I’m an Interista, my heart is Nerazzurro. Let’s continue.”
Earlier reports during EURO 2024 suggested that Bayern Munich had shown interest in signing Calhanoglu this summer, and that he had briefly considered the possibility of moving to the Allianz Arena.
However, the player himself later dismissed these claims, affirming his happiness at Inter, a stance he has consistently maintained.
Following Turkey’s elimination from the Euros, Calhanoglu plans to take a short break before rejoining Inter for pre-season training.
