Harry Redknapp Jr, grandson of football legend Harry Redknapp, has signed with non-league side Dorchester Town. The 18-year-old center-back, formerly with AFC Bournemouth, was released this summer along with 13 other players. Redknapp Jr joined Bournemouth at the age of seven and hails from nearby Poole.
Having spent time on loan at Dorchester last season and making two appearances for QPR’s Under-18s in the FA Youth Cup, Redknapp Jr has now made a permanent move to the Southern League Premier Division South side. He follows in the footsteps of his father, Mark, and grandfather, Harry, by playing for Dorchester.Dorchester manager Tom Killick expressed his delight at the signing: “Harry made a great impression in the brief time he was with us at the end of the season. We feel he has huge ability and the potential to get back into full-time football. He will be a real asset and we are very happy to have him with us.”
Redknapp Jr, nephew of former Liverpool and Tottenham star Jamie Redknapp, is the second signing for the Magpies this week, following the addition of Tom Bragg. He is Dorchester’s tenth recruit this summer, joining Shaq Gwengwe, Jordan Ngalo, Jack Dickson, Corby Moore, Will Spetch, Olaf Koszela, Luke Pardoe, and Luke Roberts.
