Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been offered the chance to return to management by Besiktas. The Turkish giants, long-term admirers of the former Manchester United boss, previously approached him in December with an 18-month contract, which he declined. Despite the initial rejection.
Besiktas remains determined and is ready to make another move for the 51-year-old Norwegian, viewing him as the ideal candidate to rival Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce, according to The Mirror. The club is currently searching for a new manager after sacking Fernando Santos, despite his Turkish Cup win. Former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders reportedly turned down Besiktas, leaving Solskjaer as a top contender alongside former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic, Sergen Yalcin, and ex-Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin. Solskjaer also rejected an approach from Sweden and expressed in March that he was not ready to return to management.
He stated, “I have a few offers but I’m not ready. It’s got to be somewhere I can be myself, not like anyone dictating ‘you need to do this, you need to do that’. Because when you have been at United and managed them, you learn a few things and you want to do it your way the next time.”
