Atalanta President Antonio Percassi has provided reassurance to supporters regarding the potential departure of Gian Piero Gasperini, who has been targeted by Napoli.
Percassi affirms, “We are in the process of finalizing the necessary arrangements.” Gasperini, who has been at Bergamo for eight years with his current contract extending until June 2025, is engaged in discussions to extend it further, possibly by two to three years.
Additionally, there are discussions for an enhanced salary package, acknowledging Atalanta’s triumph in the Europa League, and commitments to reinvest resources to bolster the squad’s competitiveness.
Despite Napoli’s interest in Gasperini, which led them to pursue Antonio Conte instead after Gasperini’s positive discussions with Atalanta, Percassi remains confident about Gasperini’s tenure.
Percassi, in direct dialogue with Sky Sport Italia, states, “Certainly, Gasperini will continue with us. We are finalizing the necessary arrangements.” Atalanta’s recent achievements, including winning the Europa League and reaching the Coppa Italia Final, alongside securing Champions League qualification, further solidify the club’s determination to retain Gasperini’s services.
