Images purportedly showcasing Chelsea’s upcoming home kit for the 2024/25 season have surfaced online, prompting skepticism and disappointment among Blues supporters. Amid a season marked by flashes of brilliance overshadowed by scoring struggles, poor results, and a slew of injuries, fans are eagerly seeking reasons for optimism as Chelsea sits in 10th place, eyeing a climb into the Premier League’s top half.

However, reactions on social media indicate a lack of enthusiasm toward the leaked kit photos. One fan compared the design, leaked by Footy Headlines, to spilled paint, while another humorously attributed it to the visually impaired American soul singer, Stevie Wonder.

Expressing dismay, a Chelsea supporter lamented that if the leak is authentic, it would mark one of the team’s dreariest kits to date. Another labeled it “hideous,” while a third criticized its aesthetics, questioning Nike’s design effort: “It’s vile. How much time did Nike spend creating this? Five minutes?”

The kit’s artistic blue and white wash effect, along with the use of an orange outline around the club badge, Nike swoosh, and collar, deviates from past home kits. Although Chelsea has occasionally incorporated hints of red due to elements in their crest, the use of orange in their primary kit is unprecedented.

Notably, orange has made appearances in Chelsea’s secondary and tertiary kits in prior seasons. For instance, in the 2020/21 season, they sported a third strip with reddish-orange stripes, while their black third kit in the preceding season featured an orange collar. Additionally, an orange-infused grey away kit was part of their lineup between 1994 and 1996.

While the authenticity of the leaked design remains unconfirmed, Chelsea supporters might not be entirely surprised by the potential unconventional appearance of the upcoming strip. Nike has previously produced unconventional designs for the team, notably the vibrant, checkered or zig-zag home shirt worn during the 2021/22 season.
